Racing Incident Report
MULTI MILLIONS was withdrawn on 16.6.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter AWESOME DRAGON (S K Sit). Before being allowed to race again, MULTI MILLIONS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WIN FOR ALL began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MAVERICK STAR. Shortly after the start, CELEBRATION lost its position when crowded for room between MAVERICK STAR which shifted out and ELEGANT KING PRAWN which shifted in. FAIR WIN began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped GALLANT FALCON, causing GALLANT FALCON to shift in and cause crowding on its inside to CHATER SILK which was steadied away from the heels of MILITARY OPTION. After the 1500 Metres, E Saint-Martin (FAIR WIN) reached down with his right hand and adjusted his foot in the stirrup. For some distance after the 1200 Metres, ENCHANTED was awkwardly placed close to the heels of COURAGEOUSHEART. At the 1100 Metres, MAVERICK STAR was steadied away from the heels of ELEGANT KING PRAWN. Making the Home Turn, DILIGENT, which was held up and unable to obtain clear running, was steadied and shifted wider on the track, then after straightening was again steadied and shifted to the outside of MILITARY OPTION. After the 400 Metres, ENCHANTED was brushed and carried wider by VITALITY CHAMP which at this time shifted to the outside of COURAGEOUSHEART into clear running. After the 200 Metres, COURAGEOUSHEART became unbalanced and shifted out after being bumped by MAVERICK STAR (Y T Cheng) which at this time was shifting to the outside of ELEGANT KING PRAWN to obtain clear running. As ELEGANT KING PRAWN itself shifted out at this time, it was considered appropriate for Y T Cheng to be reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Near the 100 Metres, ENCHANTED, which was giving ground, was checked when crowded for room between CELEBRATION and CHATER SILK (C Munce) which shifted out. C Munce was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise greater care. The performance of AWESOME DRAGON, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AWESOME DRAGON will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ENCHANTED was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ENCHANTED was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ENCHANTED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. VITALITY CHAMP, MAVERICK STAR and CHATER SILK were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported MAVERICK STAR had lost its left front plate.
