Racing Incident Report

WONG'S FAVOURITE and VICTORY TREASURE were slow to begin. At the 1200 Metres, COTTON BALL broke down and was eased out of the race. For the major part of the race, WADADELIGHT had difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 100 Metres was crowded for room between CITY SURFER and BRILLIANT ONE which shifted out away from the heels of WIN FOR ALL. Just prior to the winning post, LAZY BUDDIES shifted in and bumped MILLENNIUM SPIRIT. A Delpech (WADADELIGHT), 5th placegetter, was reminded of his responsibility to ride his mounts out right to the end of the race where circumstances permit. Apprentice C K Tong (LUCKY MONEY) said after being boxed the horse was restless, sat back and then as the gates opened bounded in the air, causing him to strike his head on an overhead bar of the barriers. He said after this LUCKY MONEY did not stride out, soon became detached and finished distanced. The performance of LUCKY MONEY was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY MONEY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY MONEY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. VICTORY TREASURE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY MONEY after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, VICTORY TREASURE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to have a dorsal displacement of the soft palate. AQUA-TREASURE, KING HESPERUS and MILLENNIUM SPIRIT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported KING HESPERUS had lost its left front plate.
