Racing Incident Report

FOURSQUARE was withdrawn on 4.12.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter VIVA FIGHTER. Before being allowed to race again, FOURSQUARE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KINGSTON MARBLE was slow to begin and then trailed the field throughout. The performance of KINGSTON MARBLE was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, KINGSTON MARBLE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Shortly after the start, HIGHLAND DAWN lost ground when crowded for room between MILLION CHASE and PERFECT ATHLETE which on jumping stumbled, then shifted out. Near the 800 Metres, PERFECT ATHLETE was steadied and lost ground when crowded for room between SUPER RED and OKEYDOKEY (O Doleuze) which initially shifted in of its own accord and then shifted in further when close to the heels of PLEZAYRE which shifted in when barely clear. In the circumstances, O Doleuze was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, SIR OCTAVIUS was hampered and carried wider by PERFECT ATHLETE which got its head on the side and hung out. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, MILLION CHASE became unbalanced and was steadied away from the heels of SUPER RED. For the major part of the race, KEEN FLYER hung out and near the 500 Metres shifted ground, causing PLEZAYRE to be carried wider. At the 500 Metres, MILLION CHASE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SUPER RED. In the early part of the Straight, WONDERFUL WORLD was steadied when disappointed for running inside PERFECT ATHLETE. D Nikolic (VIVA FIGHTER) said the horse began well, he did not ride along in the early stages as he hoped to obtain a position with cover. He said as he commenced to shift in VIVA FIGHTER commenced to hang out badly and would not shift closer to the rail for him. He said because of this he was not able to maintain his position and lost ground. KINGSTON MARBLE and SIR OCTAVIUS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KINGSTON MARBLE and SIR OCTAVIUS after the race did not show any significant findings. PLEZAYRE and RACING SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
