Racing Incident Report
At declaration time, L Dettori was declared as the rider of FOKINE. As L Dettori was not able to make the weight, permission was given for R Hills to be substituted as the rider of FOKINE. Mr A S Cruz, trainer of FOKINE, was fined $2,000 for failing to properly engage L Dettori for this ride. AIN'T HERE was withdrawn on 9.12.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore foot). Before being allowed to race again, AIN'T HERE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SPECIAL KING PRAWN began awkwardly, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle. Near the 1300 Metres, LIBERAL'S KNIGHT, which from a wide barrier was being taken back, was steadied when awkwardly placed between FOKINE and ALL'S WELL which shifted in when barely clear. At the 1200 Metres, LIBERAL'S KNIGHT was again steadied when crowded for room between FOKINE and VIVA MACAU which shifted in slightly. After the 800 Metres and again at the 600 Metres, FIRM OFFER was steadied away from the heels of MY CHOICE. In the early part of the Straight, ALL'S WELL had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 350 Metres, SPECIAL KING PRAWN was steadied when disappointed for running between VIVA MACAU and NOBLE MAN. For the major part of the race, FOKINE raced wide and without cover. ALL'S WELL was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, ALL'S WELL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. SPECIAL KING PRAWN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SPECIAL KING PRAWN after the race did not show any significant findings. HAPPEE OWNER and ROYAL DELIGHT were sent for sampling.
