Racing Incident Report
AMBITIOUS LEADER, which was fractious in the stall, sat back as the gates opened and as a consequence was slow to begin. On jumping, THUNDER STORM shifted out and bumped ZABEEL VICTORY. THUNDER STORM was then taken across behind runners. Near the 800 Metres, WISDOM EXPRESS was steadied away from the heels of FASTER FASTER. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, FASTER FASTER, which was closing the race off, was steadied when unable to improve between WYNDAM PLENTY and TRIUMPHANT GLORY. Over about the last 100 Metres, CHERISHED was not able to obtain clear running and because of this was not properly tested. Near the line, WISDOM EXPRESS was steadied and shifted to the inside of MUTUAL GAIN to continue going forward. The performance of JET RISE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, JET RISE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Throughout the race, ZABEEL VICTORY travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, A Starke (FASTER FASTER) said approaching the turn at the 800 Metres he was aware WONDERFUL BOY which was racing forward of him and to his outside was endeavouring to shift to the rail. He said in his opinion he would have had to ride FASTER FASTER along to maintain his position inside that horse. He said at this time FASTER FASTER was somewhat unbalanced in its action, he therefore believed it to be in the best of the horse to steady FASTER FASTER which allowed WONDERFUL BOY to shift in. He said after this FASTER FASTER travelled satisfactorily. A Starke was told where circumstances permit he should ensure he endeavours to maintain his position. AMBITIOUS LEADER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of AMBITIOUS LEADER after the race did not show any significant findings. CHERISHED, TRIUMPHANT GLORY and WYNDAM PLENTY were sent for sampling.
