Racing Incident Report

PERFECT SPOT was withdrawn on 8.1.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MOSHI MOSHI (C Soumillon). Before being allowed to race again, PERFECT SPOT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CHAMPION PIONEER was slow to begin and shortly afterwards lost further ground when crowded for room inside DRAGON HORSE which was carried in by VICTORY WARRIOR which began awkwardly. BOLD CHAMPION was slow to begin. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, HURRAY HURRAY was crowded for room inside RACING SPIRIT which got its head on the side and shifted in away from MILLION CHASE which for the major part of the race travelled wide and without cover. On straightening, RACING SPIRIT was steadied when disappointed for running between MILLION CHASE and CARE FREE MIDAS which shifted out, then after the 200 Metres when having difficulty obtaining clear running was steadied and shifted out. Approaching the 200 Metres, HURRAY HURRAY and CARE FREE MIDAS raced tight due mainly to CARE FREE MIDAS hanging in. After the 200 Metres, HURRAY HURRAY got its head on the side, shifted in and was checked severely to avoid the heels of DRAGON HORSE which commenced to give ground quickly. When HURRAY HURRAY was checked, it shifted out abruptly when not clear of CARE FREE MIDAS, resulting in that horse being checked. No action was taken. Near the 100 Metres, VICTORY WARRIOR, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of MILLION CHASE. When questioned, C Soumillon (MOSHI MOSHI) said when he had ridden the horse in track work it had become badly unbalanced when changing legs. He said tonight MOSHI MOSHI began satisfactorily, after the 800 Metres he commenced to ride along to improve his position, shortly after the 800 Metres MOSHI MOSHI became unbalanced in its action and he felt something might have been amiss with the horse. He said he allowed MOSHI MOSHI to regain its balance, however, the horse did not feel comfortable underneath him until after straightening. He said in the Home Straight with BOLD CHAMPION racing to its outside MOSHI MOSHI travelled more truly. C Soumillon was told whilst the Stewards accepted MOSHI MOSHI became unbalanced in its action after the 800 Metres he should nonetheless ensure his mounts are properly tested where circumstances permit. Before being permitted to race again, MOSHI MOSHI will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MOSHI MOSHI and DRAGON HORSE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MOSHI MOSHI was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion there were no significant findings. Also after the race, DRAGON HORSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said it had bled from both nostrils. OBVIOUSLY and KEEN FLYER were sent for sampling. Following the race, it was reported CARE FREE MIDAS had lost its left hind plate and MASTER YING had sustained a laceration to the left front fetlock.
