Racing Incident Report

BRAVE KNIGHT was withdrawn on 30.3.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (infected right fore capped elbow) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GALLANT KNIGHT (M W Leung). Before being allowed to race again, BRAVE KNIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When being saddled, ESPERANZA lost its left front plate. This plate was reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being boxed, WELL NOTED became fractious and momentarily had a hind leg on a partition inside the barrier. WELL NOTED was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. CARE FREE PRINCE was slow to begin. NOBLE SILENCE and MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, DILIGENT was crowded for room between KOWLOON FIT and ESPERANZA which was carried out by BOLD WIN. At the 900 Metres, MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ESPERANZA after initially being carried in by CONTICASTA (D Whyte). D Whyte was told to exercise more care. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, KOWLOON FIT hung in. After the 400 Metres, MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP had difficulty obtaining clear running. For the major part of the race, LIFELINE RAPIDE travelled wide and without cover. S Dye (NOBLE SILENCE) said in the early stages of the race the action of his horse indicated it resented racing on today's track conditions. He said the action of NOBLE SILENCE improved after the 700 Metres, in the Straight he remained racing on the inside and rode his mount out hands and heels. He said NOBLE SILENCE responded in the manner in which it usually does and after the 200 Metres improved its position on the inside of DREAM HORSE. He said he was not able to shift out at that time without causing interference. He said in the run to the line NOBLE SILENCE raced close to the heels of GALLANT KNIGHT and as a consequence he was not able to ride his mount out right to the winning post. G Mossé (NOBLE CONQUEROR), which was racing first up from a let-up, said he had been instructed from a wide barrier to have the horse ridden with cover. He said in the early stages NOBLE CONQUEROR hung in, however, travelled satisfactorily. He said in the Straight when he commenced to ride NOBLE CONQUEROR out, the horse again hung in and proved difficult to ride. He said NOBLE CONQUEROR continued to make ground in the run to the line, however, he was not able to fully test the horse because of the manner in which it was racing. D Whyte was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said CONTICASTA travelled comfortably in the run, however, failed to respond to his riding in the Straight. NOBLE CONQUEROR was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. CONTICASTA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE CONQUEROR and CONTICASTA after the race did not show any significant findings. BOLD WIN and MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP were sent for sampling.
