Racing Incident Report

HARRY HARRY began awkwardly. From a wide barrier, in the early stages, LIGHTNING SPEED was taken across behind runners, then after passing the winning post on the first occasion when racing ungenerously became unbalanced while being checked away from the heels of KING HOGAN. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CLASSIC HORSE became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of HARRY HARRY which at this time was carried in slightly and itself was steadied away from the heels of SUDDEN SPLENDOR. Shortly after this, SUDDEN SPLENDOR was steadied away from the heels of CHEERFUL HAPPINESS which shifted in when barely clear. At the 1300 Metres, ALWAYS ZIETEN and HARRY HARRY became unbalanced after bumping. CLASSIC HORSE, which was following, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of HARRY HARRY, causing ALL OUR WAY to be carried wider. After this, ALL OUR WAY travelled without cover. After the 1200 Metres, due to the tempo of the race, MASTER ABLE proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. Also HARRY HARRY proved difficult to settle. After the 800 Metres, LIGHTNING SPEED became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of KING HOGAN. Apprentice H W Lai (ALWAYS ZIETEN) explained the intention had been to lead if possible, however, if taken on he should take the box seat. He said ALWAYS ZIETEN began satisfactorily and he immediately commenced to ride along, however, FAST TRACK which had drawn wider showed superior gate speed and was able to cross him shortly after the start. He said FAST TRACK then steadied the pace to allow horses to cross him and as a consequence ALWAYS ZIETEN travelled further back than intended which did not suit the horse in a slowly run race. CLASSIC HORSE, ALL OUR WAY and SUDDEN SPLENDOR were sent for sampling.
