Racing Incident Report

During the preliminary, W M Lai was dislodged from MASTER DREAMER. MASTER DREAMER was taken to the Start where it was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Shortly after the start, SOUNDS FANTASTIC became unbalanced when crowded for room between WHIPLASH and MASTER DREAMER. As a result of being bumped by SOUNDS FANTASTIC, MASTER DREAMER shifted out, causing crowding on its outside to PERFECT FEELING, resulting in that horse being checked. Apprentice H W Lai (CLASSA SUPREME) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CONGRATS, causing that horse to be carried in when not clear of WHIPLASH which in turn was carried in across the rightful running of STAY YOUNG and VICTORY TURBO which as a result were checked. PERFECT FEELING, which was following, was severely checked in consequence and SOUNDS FANTASTIC was checked. Apprentice Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 25 June 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 13 June 2007. In addition, Apprentice Lai was fined $10,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, PERFECT FEELING was steadied away from the heels of VICTORY TURBO. Approaching the Home Turn, VICTORY TURBO was unable to improve when following SUPER DANA and racing inside the heels of STAY YOUNG. At the 150 Metres, PERFECT FEELING was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between STAY YOUNG and EQUATOR KID (Y T Cheng) which shifted in. Y T Cheng will be advised to exercise care. For some distance approaching and passing the 100 Metres, VICTORY TURBO had difficulty obtaining clear running. Throughout the race, MASTER DREAMER travelled wide and without cover. PERFECT FEELING was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of PERFECT FEELING after the race did not show any significant findings. CLASSA SUPREME and WHIPLASH were sent for sampling.
