Racing Incident Report

RED WINE HONEY was slow to begin. KEY WINNER was slow to begin, then lost further ground when crowded for room inside HARRY HARRY which shifted in. Passing the 1400 Metres, KEY WINNER, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of FLORAL NIRVANA which at this time was steadied and shifted in to obtain a position behind PRIME TARGET. In the early stages, RIGHT CHOICE hung in and after the 1200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of FLORAL NIRVANA. At the 800 Metres, FANTASTIC WIN was steadied away from the heels of VINCERE when racing tight inside PRIME TARGET. At the 700 Metres, PRIME TARGET was crowded for room between RIGHT FRAAR and VINCERE which when being steadied away from the heels of BIG WINNER got its head on the side and shifted out. From shortly after straightening until near the 100 Metres, FANTASTIC WIN had difficulty obtaining clear running. Because of this, FANTASTIC WIN was not fully tested. At the 300 Metres, C K Tong (HARRY HARRY) dropped his whip. Also at the 300 Metres, RED WINE HONEY was steadied and shifted to the outside of RIGHT FRAAR into clear running. For a short distance after the 300 Metres and again near the 200 Metres, VINCERE had difficulty obtaining clear running between HARRY HARRY and DASH. At the 150 Metres, FLORAL NIRVANA shifted out abruptly. Because of this, E Saint-Martin, its rider, stopped riding and straightened his mount. In the Straight, CHAMPION PIONEER hung out. Throughout the race, CAPABILITY travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight hung out and proved difficult to ride. M Nunes (BIG WINNER) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said BIG WINNER travelled at a tempo to suit in the lead, however, failed to respond to his riding after straightening. KEY WINNER and BIG WINNER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KEY WINNER and BIG WINNER after the race did not show any significant findings. DASH, FLORAL NIRVANA and CHAMPION PIONEER were sent for sampling.
