Racing Incident Report
SUPER TRAVELLER proved difficult to box, reared and dislodged O Doleuze, its rider. SUPER TRAVELLER began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall and then attempted to buck for some distance. The performance of SUPER TRAVELLER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER TRAVELLER will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. GOOD PROFIT was slow to begin. SUPREME GAINS was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards lost further ground as a result of being checked when crowded for room between PRIME SCORE and POCKET MONEY. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, MAVERICK STAR, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WIN AGAIN and tight inside POCKET MONEY. Shortly after this, MAVERICK STAR and POCKET MONEY were steadied when crowded for room inside THISTLE KING which shifted in momentarily. At the 50 Metres, Apprentice K L Chui (PRIME SCORE) dropped his whip. S Dye (HORACE'S CHOICE) said in his opinion the horse's work and barrier trial leading into today's race were only fair. He said from an awkward draw he was instructed to ride the horse quietly, the same as when it was successful on 29 April 2007. He said it was thought when being ridden in this manner HORACE'S CHOICE would finish the race off which it had done on that occasion. He said HORACE'S CHOICE travelled comfortably in the run, however, finished the race off only fairly. Mr C Fownes, trainer of HORACE'S CHOICE, also said in his opinion the work of the horse leading into today's race was only fair. He confirmed that S Dye had been asked to ride the horse quietly from the barrier as in his opinion the horse would be required to do too much work if it were to be ridden forward. He said from a more favourable draw HORACE'S CHOICE may be ridden slightly in front of midfield. He said the manner in which HORACE'S CHOICE closed the race off today was somewhat disappointing, however, he did point out that last season HORACE'S CHOICE improved with racing. HORACE'S CHOICE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. FEARLESS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HORACE'S CHOICE and FEARLESS after the race did not show any significant findings. POCKET MONEY and PRIME SCORE were sent for sampling.
