Racing Incident Report

During the preliminary, S K Sit, the rider of MISSION, was dislodged. MISSION was quickly recaptured and remounted. TOUT VA BIEN began awkwardly, bounded in the air and lost ground. PRESTO was a little slow to begin and then lost further ground when checked as a result of being crowded for room between NEW TRIUMPH and HAPPY SUNDAY which began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. MISSION was slow to begin. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, INSIDER was checked away from the heels of HAPPY SUNDAY after being carried out by NEW TRIUMPH which shifted ground when being checked away from the heels of KIMBERLEY MINES which at this time was steadied away from the heels of GAUCHO after being crossed by that runner. In this incident, some inconvenience was caused to GENERAL SPEEDEE which had been following NEW TRIUMPH. No action was taken. Also making the turn after the 600 Metres, TOUT VA BIEN hung out. Shortly after straightening, SOLDIER ON was checked when disappointed for running between INSIDER and NEW TRIUMPH which shifted out. As the Stewards were satisfied SOLDIER ON had not established rightful running, no action was taken. For some distance after this, SOLDIER ON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NEW TRIUMPH. After the 200 Metres, SOLDIER ON became unbalanced after being bumped by INSIDER which shifted in. Shortly after this, SOLDIER ON which had shifted in was steadied away from the heels of NEW TRIUMPH which shifted out slightly. After this, SOLDIER ON did not obtain clear running for the remainder of the race and as a consequence was not tested. Near the 100 Metres, GENERAL SPEEDEE was momentarily steadied and shifted to the inside of PERFECT TREASURE to continue going forward. Over the concluding stages, TOUT VA BIEN hung in. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, S K Sit said MISSION had been out-paced in the early stages and despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to make up ground. He said in the Home Straight he remained racing towards the rail, rode MISSION out hands and heels and the horse in his opinion finished the race off only fairly. He did say he believed the finishing effort of MISSION appeared to be better than it actually was as a consequence of other runners giving ground over the concluding stages. S K Sit was told his riding in the Straight had come under notice and he should ensure that horses ridden by him were properly tested. M Nunes (INSIDER) said his mount travelled well in the early stages, however, after receiving interference at the 600 Metres the horse became unbalanced. He said after this INSIDER immediately came off the bridle and in the Straight failed to close the race off. INSIDER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of INSIDER after the race did not show any significant findings. NEW TRIUMPH was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, NEW TRIUMPH was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being permitted to race again, NEW TRIUMPH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KIMBERLEY MINES and PERFECT TREASURE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 29 October 2007)
INSIDER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. INSIDER was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer C S Shum this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be mildly lame in the left front leg with suspensory ligament soreness. Before being allowed to race again, INSIDER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
