Racing Incident Report

G Boss (ENCORE WIN) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that shortly after the start he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of JUST RIGHT, causing that horse to be carried in and cause crowding on its inside to AMO which as a result lost its rightful running and was severely checked. In this incident, DEMINER, which was racing inside AMO, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. G Boss was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 10 January 2008 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Tuesday 1 January 2008. In addition, G Boss was fined $25,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, ENCORE WIN and JUST RIGHT became unbalanced as a result of bumping. After this, JUST RIGHT shifted in and made contact with MR COOL. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, LASER TIGER hung out. G Boss (ENCORE WIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of DEMINER, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. This period of suspension is to be served concurrently with the suspension imposed on G Boss from an incident earlier in this race. Over about the final 100 Metres, AMO and DASHING CHAMPION had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this were not properly tested. Close to the line, LUCKY FRUIT improved into a narrow run inside ENCORE WIN. Because of this, LUCKY FRUIT could not be fully ridden out right to the line. Throughout the race, SALUT BEAUTE travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, M W Leung (KIMBERLEY MINES) explained he had been instructed tonight from barrier 10 to have the horse travel in a rearward position as it was thought a number of runners to his inside would hold their position and cause him to travel wide and without cover. He did say he had finished 2nd on KIMBERLEY MINES over the 1200 Metres at Happy Valley from barrier 10 last season when riding the horse towards the rear. When questioned regarding the poor performance of MR COOL, D Whyte said his mount after being bumped on the first turn travelled only fairly throughout. He said he was able to maintain a forward position, however, MR COOL was under pressure prior to straightening and did not respond to his riding. He said after the 200 Metres he became concerned with the action of MR COOL and because of this did not ride the horse out to the end of the race. MR COOL was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of MR COOL after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, MR COOL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GENERAL DANSKE and KIMBERLEY MINES were sent for sampling.
