Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, GLORIOUS FEELING and GRAND GENERAL became fractious and reared. GLORIOUS FEELING and GRAND GENERAL were removed from the stalls and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion they were suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, GLORIOUS FEELING and GRAND GENERAL will both have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Also after being boxed, KUNG FU became fractious, resulting in its bridle becoming dislodged. The bridle was refitted to KUNG FU. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. BLISS STAR, GLORIOUS FEELING and MOUNT SURPLUS were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, CLASSIC HORSE, TERRIFIC BRETHREN and TREASURE COLT bumped, causing TERRIFIC BRETHREN and CLASSIC HORSE to become unbalanced and shift out. As a consequence of this, BLISS STAR was carried out by CLASSIC HORSE, then became unbalanced when being checked to avoid the heels of PEARL HALO which at this time also shifted in. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Also shortly after the start, PEARL HALO was steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position on the outside rail. After the 900 Metres, TREASURE COLT, which was laying out, was checked away from the heels of TERRIFIC BRETHREN. At the 500 Metres, INSIDER became unbalanced and was steadied when awkwardly placed between KUNG FU and MOUNT SURPLUS which at this time commenced to give ground and hung out. No action was taken. Shortly after this, MOUNT SURPLUS shifted in, causing some inconvenience to GRAND GENERAL. After the 400 Metres, PEARL HALO was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of MANY GAINS which at this time was carried out by LUCIA. Near the 300 Metres, CLASSIC HORSE, which was experiencing difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of INSIDER which at this time was carried in by KUNG FU. When CLASSIC HORSE was shifted in, inconvenience was caused to MOUNT SURPLUS and GRAND GENERAL. At the 200 Metres, GRAND GENERAL was inconvenienced by CLASSIC HORSE which shifted to the inside of CLEMENT ELITE to obtain clear running. At the 150 Metres, MANY GAINS, which was inclined to shift out, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of LUCIA. C Soumillon (TREASURE COLT) explained he had been instructed from an inside barrier to have the horse begin well and endeavour to obtain a position as close as possible to the outside rail. He said on jumping TREASURE COLT was inconvenienced, then commenced to hang out which prevented him from riding his mount along to go forward. He said because of this at the 800 Metres he shifted TREASURE COLT across behind runners and then endeavoured to improve his position between horses. He said near the 600 Metres he was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed between GLORIOUS FEELING and CHINA HERO which shifted out. He said when being ridden out TREASURE COLT finished the race off only fairly and on a number of occasions shifted ground. TREASURE COLT and KUNG FU were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TREASURE COLT after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, KUNG FU was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, KUNG FU will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCIA and MANY GAINS were sent for sampling.
