Racing Incident Report

On jumping, THE WORLD OF LOVE was taken across behind runners. M Nunes (JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE) dropped his left rein at the 250 Metres and dropped his whip at the winning post. When questioned, M W Leung (KIMBERLEY MINES) said the horse was disappointing last start when left racing without cover. He said because of this tonight he was instructed to endeavour to have the horse begin only fairly, not to ride along which would allow runners to his inside to go forward, then to shift across to a position with cover. He said KIMBERLEY MINES began well, he did not ride along in the early stages in accordance with his instructions and to obtain a position with cover he was required to steady back to a rearward position. He said tonight KIMBERLEY MINES was disappointing in the manner in which it closed the race off. When questioned regarding the poor performance of BRILLIANT ONE, F Coetzee said the horse raced “flat” tonight. He said despite being ridden along in the early stages, BRILLIANT ONE failed to muster speed and was slightly further back than he had intended. He said he commenced to ride along prior to straightening, however, BRILLIANT ONE responded only fairly and then in the Straight hung out. BRILLIANT ONE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, BRILLIANT ONE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had a corneal abrasion to its right eye. Before being allowed to race again, BRILLIANT ONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of BELONG TO CASA, Apprentice K L Chui explained at this stage of its career the horse appears better suited to racing over 1000 Metres rather than the 1200 Metres of tonight's race. He said BELONG TO CASA led tonight and travelled satisfactorily, however, over the final 200 Metres gave ground. BELONG TO CASA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BELONG TO CASA after the race did not show any significant findings. Following the race, D Whyte (WHATAFANTASY) reported his mount was not striding out freely. WHATAFANTASY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. TEAM WORK and LOLLIPOP were sent for sampling.
