Racing Incident Report

SOU MA TAM began awkwardly. On jumping, DOUBLE FANTASY was bumped by TELECOM EMPEROR which shifted ground after being bumped by SHINING DRAGON. Then when being taken across behind runners from the outside barrier, DOUBLE FANTASY raced awkwardly, hung out making the turn at the 1000 Metres and for the major part of the Straight hung in. ZERO GRAVITY began awkwardly, lost ground, then shortly afterwards was checked to avoid the heels of DASHING WINNER after being carried in by LORD CAIRNS which began awkwardly, got its head up, then shifted ground after being bumped by GEM MASTER. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, DASHING WINNER was crowded for room inside GEM MASTER which got its head on the side and shifted in away from FRAMES DEPOT. At the 800 Metres, LORD CAIRNS was steadied when crowded for room outside ZERO GRAVITY which became unbalanced and shifted out when being steadied while awkwardly placed close to the heels of DASHING WINNER. Approaching the 600 Metres, BUDDIES SPIRIT was left racing wide and without cover. In the early part of the Straight, LORD CAIRNS, which was hanging in, was steadied away from the heels of ZERO GRAVITY. For some distance after the 200 Metres, GEM MASTER had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 150 Metres, TELECOM EMPEROR, which was giving ground, was bumped by DOUBLE FANTASY. When questioned, Apprentice C W Wong (LORD CAIRNS) said because the horse had shown itself to race keenly when ridden along in the early stages in the past, he had been instructed tonight to allow the horse to begin, then not to ride the horse along vigorously, however, endeavour to have it travel in a position with cover where it was comfortable. He said shortly after the start he was crossed by GEM MASTER and he felt he would be travelling in a midfield position. He said however making the turn at the 1000 Metres GEM MASTER did not maintain its position and as a consequence he travelled further back than anticipated. He added in the middle stages of the race LORD CAIRNS proved difficult to settle. VALUE CHOICE and SOU MA TAM were sent for sampling.
