Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the saddling stalls, TERTIARY CHAMPION had its right front plate reset. TERTIARY CHAMPION was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, it was noted SHY BALDY had lost its right front plate. SHY BALDY was replated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the start was effected, TERTIARY CHAMPION, which was standing badly, became fractious and reared, causing B Prebble, its rider, to be almost dislodged. As a consequence, TERTIARY CHAMPION lost a considerable amount of ground at the start, trailed the field throughout and finished distanced. The performance of TERTIARY CHAMPION was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TERTIARY CHAMPION will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. METRO RIDER bounded in the air at the start. On jumping, HOT PEPPER blundered. Shortly after the start, SHY BALDY and RAINBOW STAR lost their positions when crowded for room between GANBARIA and GIVE WELL which shifted out after beginning awkwardly. In the early stages, RAINBOW STAR raced ungenerously, near the 800 Metres commenced to hang out and at the 700 Metres hung out across the heels of SHY BALDY. Neat the 300 Metres, JOLLY BIRD was steadied away from the heels of GANBARIA (C K Tong) which shifted out when not clear. C K Tong was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. At the 100 Metres, TOPBRIDGE was steadied when disappointed for running outside NOBLE DE LAGO which drifted out slightly. Approaching the winning post, WITHALLMYHEART was close to the heels of SHY BALDY and because of this was not ridden out fully right to the end of the race. MESOHAPPY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MESOHAPPY after the race did not show any significant findings. HOT PEPPER, SMART CURRENCY and SHY BALDY were sent for sampling.
