Racing Incident Report

PRIMIATA and SUPER BOBO were slow to begin. From the outside barrier, shortly after the start, SPEED OF LIGHT got its head up when being taken back. Also shortly after the start, SUPER became unbalanced when bumped by NOBLE TWINS which shifted out after being bumped by LIGHTNING MOUNT. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, DANEPRINT failed to muster speed. After the 1200 Metres, CELESTIAL WONDER lost ground when being steadied while crowded for room between MASTER MASTER and SUPER BOBO which shifted out slightly. No action was taken. SPEED OF LIGHT, which was following, was steadied in consequence. At the 700 Metres, ARISTOCRACY was shifted to a three wide position without cover. After the 600 Metres, SPEED OF LIGHT was carried wider by FILEBO which shifted out to improve and then was carried wider by CELESTIAL WONDER which shifted out. Prior to straightening, CELESTIAL WONDER was hampered when crowded between FILEBO and MASTER MASTER (D Beadman) which shifted out. D Beadman was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. On straightening, SPEED OF LIGHT was checked to avoid the heels of FILEBO which shifted out away from MASTER MASTER after initially being carried wider by that horse. No action was taken. At the 350 Metres, DANEPRINT, which was commencing to close the race off, was checked when disappointed for running between ARISTOCRACY and SUPER BOBO (E Saint-Martin) which was being shifted out to obtain clear running when not properly clear. E Saint-Martin was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. At the 200 Metres, SUPER BOBO was crowded for room between SIMPLY THE BEST and MASTER MASTER which shifted in momentarily. At the 150 Metres, DANEPRINT, which was closing the race off, was checked and shifted in to avoid the heels of SIMPLY THE BEST which was giving ground. Approaching the 50 Meters, SPEED OF LIGHT, which was closing the race off, got its head on the side, hung in and was steadied away from the heels of FILEBO. Close to the line, SPEED OF LIGHT was steadied away from the heels of FILEBO which shifted out after being bumped by MASTER MASTER which shifted ground after being bumped by SUPER BOBO. In the Straight, SUPER hung out. H W Lai (AIPODER IMAGE) explained he had been instructed to lead if possible. He said AIPODER IMAGE was stepping up in distance to 1600 Metres for the first time today. He said whilst AIPODER IMAGE had not been beaten by large margins in its recent starts, the horse had been considered to be disappointing overall and therefore it was decided to change the riding tactics today as compared to its most recent start. He said AIPODER IMAGE began awkwardly and he then rode along in an endeavour to carry out his instructions. He said PRIMIATA maintained its position on the fence to his inside and therefore approaching the turn at the 800 Metres he placed AIPODER IMAGE under additional pressure in an endeavour to go forward and cross that horse. He said he was not able to do so and therefore allowed AIPODER IMAGE at the 700 Metres to continue racing to the outside of PRIMIATA. H W Lai was told in the opinion of the Stewards he had made use of his mount for too great a distance in the early and middle stages of today’s race and in similar circumstances despite his riding instructions he would be expected to show more initiative than he did on this occasion. Before being allowed to race again, AIPODER IMAGE, which finished tailed out, will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PRIMIATA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PRIMIATA after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER and FISHKING EXCELLENT were sent for sampling. After the race, D Beadman reported he was disadvantaged in riding his mount out as he was experiencing pain in his right hip. D Beadman was examined by the Club's doctor who said in his opinion D Beadman was not fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements.
