Racing Incident Report

AIPODER IMAGE, which was leaning against the outside of its stall as the gates opened, was slow to begin. DAYLIGHT EXPRESS was slow into stride. Near the 1300 Metres, GRAND GENERAL was steadied away from the heels of COOL RUNNINGS. Apprentice M L Yeung (KING OF TURF) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1300 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of MASTER MASTER, causing that horse to be carried in across the rightful running of FRAMES DEPOT which as a result was checked. Apprentice Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 2 July 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (1 Hong Kong raceday). This suspension shall commence on Monday 29 June 2009 on which day Apprentice Yeung was due to resume race riding from a suspension incurred at the Happy Valley racemeeting last Wednesday. In addition, Apprentice Yeung was fined $20,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 4 further racedays. J Winks (COOL RUNNINGS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1300 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of GRAND GENERAL, causing that horse to be carried in across the rightful running of DAYLIGHT EXPRESS which as a result was checked. In the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for J Winks to be fined $30,000 in lieu of a period of suspension which would incorporate 2 Hong Kong racedays. Approaching the 1200 Metres, GRAND GENERAL got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of COOL RUNNINGS. For some distance after the 1200 Metres, DAYLIGHT EXPRESS, which was racing keenly, got its head up on several occasions and after the 1100 Metres was steadied away from the heels of GRAND GENERAL which shifted away from the rail. At the 250 Metres, WEALTH SYNERGY was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running inside MAGIC PRACTITIONER. B Prebble (GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of COOL RUNNINGS and WEALTH SYNERGY, causing those horses to lose their rightful running and be checked. B Prebble was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 25 June 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the racemeeting held at Royal Ascot, United Kingdom on Saturday 20 June 2009. In addition, B Prebble was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. Near the 150 Metres, GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY was steadied away from the heels of ZERO GRAVITY which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly. GRAND GENERAL, FRAMES DEPOT and MASTER MASTER were sent for sampling.
