Racing Incident Report

Near the 1000 Metres, DR WIN, which had been ridden along to establish a position to the inside of TELECOM SUPER STAR, was checked when crowded for room inside TELECOM SUPER STAR which at this time was taken in slightly by GENERAL DANROAD which got its head on the side and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. No further action was taken. After the 800 Metres, SPICY SHRIMP was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Passing the 400 Metres, MORE LUCKY became unbalanced when checked away from the heels of THE PRINCE which itself shifted out abruptly after becoming unbalanced in its action. Shortly after entering the Straight, EL GRANDE was steadied away from the heels of FORTUNE BUNNY which at this time shifted out. In the Straight, RARE TREASURE got its head on the side and over the final 50 Metres hung in. When questioned, D Whyte stated that it had been intended for DR WIN to be ridden in a forward position tonight with the blinkers being added to the horse’s gear. He said as the start was effected, DR WIN, which was leaning on the inside of its gate, began awkwardly and consequently lost ground. He said after this he rode DR WIN across behind runners to obtain a more forward position on the fence. He added after being checked near the 1000 Metres, he had to ride DR WIN along throughout the race to maintain its position. He said in the Straight he rode DR WIN along, however, the horse was reluctant to improve its position to the inside of TELECOM SUPER STAR. A veterinary inspection of SPICY SHRIMP after the race did not show any significant findings. RARE TREASURE and ALL THE WINNERS were sent for sampling.
