Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, THINK BIG, which had been fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. RECORD HIGH shifted in at the start and bumped CHARITABLE STAR. Shortly after the start, MEDIC FORTUNE was steadied away from the heels of BLEDISLOE. Passing the 1300 Metres, THINK BIG was momentarily crowded for room inside KIMBER FORTUNE. Near the 1250 Metres, RECORD HIGH raced tight inside KOENIGSBERG which at this time got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of CHARITABLE STAR. For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, CARISSIMA proved difficult to settle when being steadied to allow CLASSA SUPREME to cross. Near the 850 Metres, RECORD HIGH shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHARITABLE STAR. THINK BIG and KIMBER FORTUNE, which were following, were hampered in consequence. At the entrance to the Straight, RECORD HIGH was steadied away from the heels of CHARITABLE STAR which itself was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CARISSIMA. Then passing the 300 Metres, RECORD HIGH, when being shifted to the inside to obtain clear running, was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of CARISSIMA. Passing the 200 Metres, CHARITABLE STAR had difficulty obtaining clear running behind LIONS’ FORTUNE which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. Near the 100 Metres, CHARITABLE STAR and LIONS’ FORTUNE bumped, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Y T Cheng (RECORD HIGH) was advised against the practice of easing his mounts down prior to the finishing line whilst other runners were still in contention. After the race, D Beadman expressed concern with the action of HIGH LUCK. A veterinary inspection of HIGH LUCK after the race revealed that the horse was lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, HIGH LUCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of THINK BIG after the race did not show any significant findings. RECORD HIGH and MEDIC FORTUNE were sent for sampling. <15/7/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> HIGH LUCK, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time the horse was lame in its left front leg. HIGH LUCK was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its both front legs. As previously advised, HIGH LUCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again. THINK BIG, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. THINK BIG was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer C H Yip this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, THINK BIG will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
