Racing Incident Report

Prior to presenting OCTAGONAL CANYON in the saddling yard, Trainer A Schutz reported that the horse was displaying a skin allergy. On arrival at the Parade Ring, OCTAGONAL CANYON was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said, in his opinion, it was suitable to race. STORM’S DESTINY, which was leaning on the outside of its barrier stall, was slow to begin. WINNING PAL was slow to begin. ROMANCING TAMAR was crowded for room at the start between ROYAL PORTRAIT and SUPREME COMMANDER which shifted out. Near the 1500 Metres, both WINNING PAL and SEXY BABY proved difficult to settle when racing tight between WAIT FOR ME and STORM’S DESTINY which shifted in slightly. Again passing the 1300 Metres, SEXY BABY proved difficult to settle. Near the 300 Metres, WINNING PAL was steadied and became unbalanced when momentarily disappointed for running between BRAVO HORSE which shifted in slightly and ROYAL PORTRAIT which commenced to give ground. Near the 200 Metres, STORM’S DESTINY was crowded for room inside OCTAGONAL CANYON which at this time shifted in to avoid the heels of ROYAL PORTRAIT which continued to give ground. Throughout the race, REDOUTE STAR travelled wide and without cover. The performances of both VISIONARIO and ROYAL PORTRAIT, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, VISIONARIO and ROYAL PORTRAIT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of REDOUTE STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. REDOUTE STAR, ROMANCING TAMAR and WAIT FOR ME were sent for sampling.
