Racing Incident Report

BLADE FORCE was withdrawn on 12.10.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind foot). Before being allowed to race again, BLADE FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From the outside barrier, CARE FREE MIDAS was taken across behind runners shortly after the start to obtain a position closer to the fence. FOREVER DESTINY was slow to begin and then hung out making the first turn after the 1000 Metres. Approaching the 600 Metres, CARE FREE MIDAS was steadied after racing in restricted room between CAGA BOY and QUELLE SURPRISE. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, FOREVER DESTINY again hung out. KING`S CHOICE hung out rounding the Home Turn. When questioned, Apprentice K C Leung stated that he had been instructed to be positive on GO STITCH in the early stages so that it did not get out of its ground. He said accordingly he rode GO STITCH along in the early stages, however, was left racing three wide outside KINGSTON ELITE making the first turn. He said rather than remain racing wide, he continued to ride GO STITCH forward so as to clear that horse. Trainer A T Millard stated that he had instructed Apprentice Leung to ride GO STITCH positively as the horse had become unbalanced in a number of its races last season when ridden amongst other runners. He said however that he was surprised by the amount of speed shown by GO STITCH as he anticipated that the horse would race in a position about 5th or 6th. When questioned, D Whyte stated that JOYFUL JOYFUL`s performance tonight could be attributed solely to the fact that the horse was not able to obtain cover at any stage in the race. He said in the early stages JOYFUL JOYFUL was left racing wide and making the turn passing the 1000 Metres was bumped and taken wider by GO STITCH. He said when this happened, JOYFUL JOYFUL would not settle and because of this the horse was not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL JOYFUL after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of QUELLE SURPRISE after the race revealed that the horse had bled from both nostrils. JOYFUL JOYFUL, NATURAL FLAME and CAGA BOY were sent for sampling.
