Racing Incident Report
SECRET OF WINNING was withdrawn on 19.10.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore and lame right fore capped elbow) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HEALTHY FARM (O Doleuze). Before being allowed to race again, SECRET OF WINNING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DIAMOND KNIGHT was slow to begin. PROSPEROUS began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of STAR SON which became unbalanced. JUN DAO and SUPREME DE UNION bumped at the start. After being crossed by EVER BEAUTY near the 900 Metres, SUPREME DE UNION proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied away from the heels of EVER BEAUTY. After the 800 Metres, MY TIME was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 700 Metres, DIAMOND KNIGHT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPREME DE UNION. Approaching the 200 Metres, Apprentice C Y Ho (MY TIME) momentarily dropped his left rein. Approaching the 100 Metres, MY TIME was steadied away from the heels of EVER BEAUTY. When questioned, G Cheyne stated that at the entrance to the Straight he shifted SUPREME DE UNION to the outside of EVER BEAUTY and the horse quickened nicely. He said he rode the horse out hands and heels in the early part of the Straight and as SUPREME DE UNION was responding well to being ridden in this manner, he did not use the whip on the horse until passing the 50 Metres. He added that as he was of the belief that SUPREME DE UNION was giving of its best in the Straight, he did not feel that there was a need for the whip to be used on the horse until the concluding stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of HEALTHY FARM after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate. PROSPEROUS, JUN DAO and SUPREME DE UNION were sent for sampling.
