Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed when WO AI NINN proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, WO AI NINN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Shortly after the start, WO AI NINN was steadied away from the heels of NEW GLORY which shifted out. Also shortly after the start, NORDIC STAR and VILASOL were crowded for room between HAPPY GUYS and KENOBE which began awkwardly and shifted in. From the outside barriers, FLUKE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early part of the Straight, NEW GLORY got its head on the side and lay in. D Beadman (JOYFUL WINNER II) explained that near the 1300 Metres it appeared as though JOYFUL WINNER II was going to be able to obtain a position one horse off the fence with cover behind GREAT GUY as HAPPY GUYS, which was racing to the inside of JOYFUL WINNER II, was being shifted across to race on the fence. He said however that shortly after this point WO AI NINN was ridden along to establish its position to the inside of HAPPY GUYS and for this reason HAPPY GUYS was unable to shift across to the fence which resulted in JOYFUL WINNER II being left racing three wide and without cover. He added passing the 1200 Metres he then attempted to shift in behind HAPPY GUYS to obtain cover, however, at this time NORDIC STAR was ridden along to improve its position inside JOYFUL WINNER II and for this reason he was not able to shift in. He said after this JOYFUL WINNER II travelled three wide and without cover throughout the race and when unable to obtain cover travelled keenly. He added that passing the 500 Metres JOYFUL WINNER II was taken wider when HAPPY GUYS shifted out to improve its position around GREAT GUY and in the Straight weakened. D Beadman stated that, in his opinion, JOYFUL WINNER being unable to obtain cover throughout the race was the reason for the horse’s failure to be able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL WINNER II after the race did not show any significant findings. HAPPY GUYS and WO AI NINN were sent for sampling.
