Racing Incident Report

GUAN DAO, first Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 22.3.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). BAYVIEW GREYSLEW was also withdrawn on 22.3.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter WESTERN STAR (C K Tong). Before being allowed to race again, GUAN DAO and BAYVIEW GREYSLEW will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOLD JOINT and PINOT NOIR were slow to begin and shortly after the start were crowded for room between LIGHTNING MOUNT and BINGO KEY which shifted in after being bumped by STORM’S DESTINY. A short distance later, BINGO KEY was steadied when racing in restricted room between LIGHTNING MOUNT and STORM’S DESTINY. Passing the 1400 Metres, LUCKY ARMY got its head up and proved very difficult to settle. After the 1000 Metres, GOLD JOINT was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of GOLD JOINT, which finished tailed out, after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of GOLD JOINT was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLD JOINT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G Cheyne reported that, in his opinion, GOLD JOINT did not appreciate racing on tonight’s surface at the first time of asking. In the Straight, BINGO KEY hung out and proved difficult to ride and near the 100 Metres when closing off the race fairly was steadied away from the heels of THAT’S IT. A veterinary inspection of SPEEDY TYCOON, which finished tailed out, after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of SPEEDY TYCOON was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SPEEDY TYCOON will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FANTASTISCH, BEST NOODLE and STORM’S DESTINY were sent for sampling.
<24/3/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>GOLD JOINT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. GOLD JOINT was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, GOLD JOINT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
