Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the barriers, the tongue tie carried by SUPER TIGER was replaced.
After being difficult to load, SPURS ON became fractious, reared and momentarily got its left front leg over the barrier partition. SPURS ON was removed from the stalls and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, SPURS ON will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
BET ON ME was crowded for room at the start between RAY’S FAVOURITE which began awkwardly and RIYADH which shifted in.
Shortly after the start, MASTER GUNNER was crowded for room between RIYADH and SUPER TIGER which was taken in by SPURS ON.
Also shortly after the start, EXPECTATOR and YUAN’S FORTUNE bumped. After this, YUAN’S FORTUNE, from the outside barrier, was taken across behind runners.
Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, RAY’S FAVOURITE failed to muster speed.
Passing the 1600 Metres, BET ON ME was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CRUISE CONTROL which was taken out by PLAIN RED BANNER.
Passing the 1400 Metres, CRUISE CONTROL commenced to travel strongly and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of OTTIMO which itself was being steadied away from the heels of AFFECTION. When CRUISE CONTROL shifted out, RAY’S FAVOURITE was taken wider.
After the 900 Metres, RAY’S FAVOURITE got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CRUISE CONTROL.
After the 300 Metres, PLAIN RED BANNER momentarily raced in restricted room between SPURS ON and AFFECTION which shifted in.
Near the 150 Metres, OTTIMO was shifted out away from the heels of AFFECTION which shifted out after being bumped by PLAIN RED BANNER.
At the 100 Metres, BET ON ME was shifted in away from the heels of AFFECTION which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly.
Throughout the race, EXPECTATOR travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER TIGER and CRUISE CONTROL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PLAIN RED BANNER and RIYADH were sent for sampling.
<9/5/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>CRUISE CONTROL, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. CRUISE CONTROL was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C Fownes this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CRUISE CONTROL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
