Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the barriers, the tongue tie carried by DEMON DEMON was refitted.
When being loaded, TAYSIDE momentarily became fractious, resulting in R Fourie being dislodged.
TAYSIDE was slow to begin.
From the outside barrier, BEAR SUPREME began awkwardly and then was taken across behind runners.
When being steadied to be taken across behind runners shortly after the start, DEMON DEMON was steadied away from the heels of FLYING ELITE which shifted in after being bumped by SAMADHI.
Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, JAZZY FEELING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PROLIFIC CHAMPION when being shifted across behind that horse. When being shifted in, JAZZY FEELING bumped TAYSIDE.
After the 800 Metres, FLYING ELITE was left racing wide and without cover.
After the 700 Metres, TAYSIDE became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WEEKEND GIGGLE.
Passing the 200 Metres, PURE FORCE was bumped by FAY DEEP which shifted out from behind DEMON DEMON into clear running.
When questioned, B Prebble stated that he had been asked to ride PURE FORCE with cover in about 4th or 5th position if possible. He said he had observed that at its most recent start JAZZY FEELING, which tonight had drawn immediately inside PURE FORCE, had been ridden along in the early stages in an attempt to take up a forward position and he anticipated that from the same barrier the horse would again be ridden in a similar manner. He said as he considered JAZZY FEELING was the obvious danger to PURE FORCE, when that horse was again ridden vigorously out of the barriers, he attempted to shift in behind JAZZY FEELING in the early stages and obtain cover behind that horse. He said that despite being ridden along, JAZZY FEELING was not able to obtain a forward position, however, by this time he had already committed PURE FORCE to obtain a position behind that horse. He added when he attempted to shift across behind JAZZY FEELING after the 1100 Metres, FAY DEEP was ridden along to obtain the position to his inside and therefore he had to ride PURE FORCE along in an endeavour to clear that horse and obtain the position behind JAZZY FEELING. He said near the 800 Metres he was in a position to shift in behind JAZZY FEELING, however, shortly after this DEMON DEMON shifted out and this resulted in PURE FORCE remaining in a three wide position and further back in the field that had been anticipated. Trainer B K Ng advised the Stewards that he wanted PURE FORCE ridden behind the speed with cover tonight and he felt that this would be in about a midfield position. He said whilst he was disappointed that PURE FORCE had got further back in the field than he had anticipated, he believed that this was due to the circumstances of the race and that he was comfortable with Jockey Prebble’s decision to initially attempt to obtain a position with cover behind JAZZY FEELING in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection of TAYSIDE and PURE FORCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
JAZZY FEELING, PROLIFIC CHAMPION and NOVEL START were sent for sampling.
