Racing Incident Report

ALPINEFIELD was withdrawn on 19.4.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, ALPINEFIELD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When leaving the Parade Ring, Trainer D Cruz expressed concern regarding the hindlimb action of HOLIDAY SUN. On arrival at the barriers, HOLIDAY SUN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who, after the necessary consultations, reported that the horse was suitable to race.
VOILE ROUGE began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly, resulting in ROCKET LET WIN being taken out across the heels of KING OF REASON.
Near the 1200 Metres, MAJESTIC FALCON was checked when crowded for room inside STERLING CITY which, after initially being directed in by SEA DRAGON (D Whyte), then became unbalanced and shifted in further of its own accord. D Whyte was advised that whilst STERLING CITY had contributed to the incident by shifting ground inwards abruptly, nonetheless he had initially placed an unreasonable amount of pressure on STERLING CITY. He was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future.
SEA DIAMOND was badly held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 350 Metres got its head up when being checked away from the heels of KING OF REASON. SEA DIAMOND then continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 200 Metres. SEA DIAMOND again had difficulty obtaining clear running after the 100 Metres and near the 50 Metres shifted out and was checked away from the heels of STERLING CITY.
In the Straight, ROCKET LET WIN got its head on the side and hung out.
When questioned, H W Lai stated that he had been instructed to ensure that WAH MAY STAR maintained its position to the inside of KING OF REASON which was felt would be one of the leaders in the race. Trainer Y S Tsui stated that at the request of the owner, it was decided for WAH MAY STAR to be ridden in a forward position as the horse had previously been successful late last season when not allowing another runner to cross WAH MAY STAR and being ridden inside horses.
A veterinary inspection of WAH MAY STAR and HOLIDAY SUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SEA DRAGON and STERLING CITY were sent for sampling.
