Racing Incident Report

HAPPY FOREVER, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 18.6.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY FOREVER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
On arrival at the barriers, the tongue tie carried by GOLDEN HARVEST was refitted.
After being loaded, REGENCY CHAMPION reared, resulting in its rider, C W Wong, losing the use of his left stirrup iron. Whilst C W Wong was regaining the use of this stirrup iron, GOOD GOOD VIEW reared on a number of occasions.
MASSIVE was slow to begin.
From a wide barrier, GREAT SPIRIT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
After being ridden along in the early stages, REGENCY CHAMPION was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of MI SAVVY which shifted in slightly. After this, REGENCY CHAMPION was continued to be ridden along, however, failed to muster speed.
Near the 900 Metres, MASSIVE got its head on the side and became unbalanced after making contact with the running rail. JOYFUL THE GREAT, which was following MASSIVE, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence.
After the 800 Metres, JOYFUL THE GREAT commenced to race ungenerously and got its head up on a number of occasions when proving very difficult to settle.
GREAT SPIRIT made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly and shifted out towards the heels of REGENCY CHAMPION.
Near the 250 Metres, ENSEMBLE was shifted out away from the heels of MI SAVVY which got its head on the side and shifted out away from RIDE ON THE FIRE. A short distance later, ENSEMBLE was checked and became unbalanced when crowded for room between MI SAVVY and GOLDEN HARVEST (T Berry) which shifted in. T Berry was advised that whilst MI SAVVY had contributed to this incident by shifting out, nonetheless he was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in which further contributed to the difficulties experienced by ENSEMBLE.
At the 200 Metres, SEA THE PEARLS was checked when disappointed for running between NORDIC ONE and RIDE ON THE FIRE, both of which shifted ground when commencing to weaken.
A short distance after the 200 Metres, RIDE ON THE FIRE, which was continuing to give ground, was momentarily crowded for room between SEA THE PEARLS and MI SAVVY which got its head on the side and shifted in.
At the 50 Metres, JOYFUL THE GREAT shifted in towards the heels of MI SAVVY.
Over the concluding stages, JOYFUL THE GREAT raced tight outside MI SAVVY.
The performance of MASSIVE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MASSIVE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of NORDIC ONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOLDEN HARVEST and GOOD GOOD VIEW were sent for sampling.
<20/6/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>NORDIC ONE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. NORDIC ONE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg and was sore over the hindquarters. Before being allowed to race again, NORDIC ONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
