Racing Incident Report

ABLE MAGIC was slow to begin.
DRAGON BACHELOR began awkwardly, shifted out and in doing so bumped the hindquarters of RISING POWER. A short distance later, DRAGON BACHELOR was hampered when RISING POWER was taken in by FORTUNE BRAVO which got its head on the side and shifted in.
From the outside barrier, WINNING BEAR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
A short distance after the start, FLYING IN was steadied after racing tight between REAL GENERAL and TWIN TURBO.
Making the turn after the 1600 Metres, FORTUNE BRAVO and ZACHARY bumped.
In the early stages, RISING POWER got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle.
Passing the 1400 Metres, ABLE MAGIC, which was travelling keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE BRAVO.
LITTLE RAINFOREST travelled wide and without cover until after the 700 Metres at which stage it was allowed to stride forward to share the lead.
After the 700 Metres, ZACHARY was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 450 Metres, WINNING BEAR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING IN which shifted to the outside of TWIN TURBO to improve.
In the early part of the Straight, FORTUNE BRAVO shifted in under pressure.
Passing the 300 Metres, ABLE MAGIC was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE BRAVO.
For some distance after the 300 Metres, TWIN TURBO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ZACHARY.
A Suborics (FORTUNE BRAVO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 250 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of RISING POWER, resulting in that horse having to be checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. A Suborics was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 14 November 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 3 November 2013.
After the 200 Metres, TWIN TURBO raced tight between ZACHARY and ABLE MAGIC which shifted out slightly.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of J Moreira (RISING POWER), 6th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that WINNING BEAR had bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of DRAGON BACHELOR immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of LITTLE RAINFOREST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RISING POWER, TWIN TURBO and HOME WITH GLORY were sent for sampling.
