Racing Incident Report

DRAGON PINS began awkwardly and then despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to muster speed.
FULL OF FUN began awkwardly.
WIN IT blundered badly at the start.
NAVEL ORANGE was slow to begin.
From the outside barriers, MARTIAL KING and HEI HEI POSH were taken across behind runners in the early stages.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SUPERKING DRAGON failed to muster speed and passing the 1700 Metres was shifted across behind runners to obtain a position with cover.
Near the 1100 Metres, NAVEL ORANGE and MARTIAL KING bumped as a result of NAVEL ORANGE improving into tight running between MARTIAL KING and DRAGON PINS.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, DRAGON PINS got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BACKBENCH BLUES.
When the tempo slackened near the 1000 Metres, HEI HEI POSH was shifted out and allowed to stride forward.
After the 900 Metres, MARTIAL KING, which was proving difficult to settle, was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of HEI HEI POSH.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, COOL BEAN was steadied when attempting to improve to the outside of ALL THE WINNERS and racing tight inside BACKBENCH BLUES which raced tight inside NAVEL ORANGE.
Over the concluding stages, WIN IT got its head on the side and lay in, resulting in its rider having to correct the horse due to FULL OF FUN being awkwardly placed inside WIN IT.
When questioned regarding UWILLBEGLORIOUS leading in tonight’s race, N Callan stated that he had been instructed to ride the horse positively at its last start and take up a forward position if possible. He said however that UWILLBEGLORIOUS began only fairly on that occasion and despite being aggressively ridden in the early stages including being slapped down the shoulder with the whip, the horse did not show early speed and he elected, rather than continue to ride the horse along, to shift it across behind runners and obtain a position with cover. He said prior to tonight’s race his instructions had been the same as that of last start, that was to take up a forward position if possible as the horse had achieved some success overseas prior to being imported into Hong Kong when ridden in a forward position. He added UWILLBEGLORIOUS began better tonight than it did at its most recent start and because of this he was able to comply with his instructions to have the horse in a forward position.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on UWILLBEGLORIOUS at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, UWILLBEGLORIOUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of SUPERKING DRAGON and NAVEL ORANGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FULL OF FUN, BACKBENCH BLUES and COOL BEAN were sent for sampling.
<15/5/2014 Additional Veterinary Reports>NAVEL ORANGE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. NAVEL ORANGE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui this morning. He said at this time he found the horse to be lame in its left front leg and sore in both front fetlocks. Before being allowed to race again, NAVEL ORANGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
