Racing Incident Report

FUN ‘N’ GAMES and ROMAN LEGEND bumped heavily at the start.
At the start, HONG KONG DANCER was checked, FUN ‘N’ GAMES was badly hampered and PURE FORCE was hampered when crowded for room between ROMAN LEGEND which became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by FUN ‘N’ GAMES and HEARTS KEEPER (Apprentice C Y Lui) which shifted out. This resulted in both PURE FORCE and FUN ‘N’ GAMES racing back in the field. Apprentice Lui was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that he had made some attempt to prevent his mount from shifting ground, nonetheless he would be expected to make a greater effort than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference to other runners.
CHOICE TREASURE and DYNAMIC VOYAGE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 600 Metres, DYNAMIC VOYAGE was steadied when disappointed for running between SWIFT SHADOW and CHOICE TREASURE.
Over the final 600 Metres, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL got its head on the side and hung in.
Passing the 300 Metres, FUN ‘N’ GAMES was awkwardly placed outside MASTER AETIUS which was giving ground.
For the majority of the race, HONG KONG DANCER hung in and near the 200 Metres was bumped by CHOICE TREASURE which lay in.
For some distance after the 200 Metres, HEARTS KEEPER was awkwardly placed outside the heels of PURE FORCE.
Over the concluding stages, FUN ‘N’ GAMES was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPEEDY SANDY and because of this was not able to be fully tested.
After the race, K C Leung (MASTER AETIUS) stated that his mount proved very difficult to settle in the early stages and because of this he was not able to steady the horse. A veterinary inspection of MASTER AETIUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ROMAN LEGEND, Apprentice K C Ng stated that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages when racing outside the eventual winner FANTASTICO. He said when FANTASTICO quickened after the 400 Metres, ROMAN LEGEND immediately came under pressure and was not able to show the same turn of foot as FANTASTICO. He said he placed ROMAN LEGEND under heavy pressure, however, the horse gave ground after the 200 Metre and, in his opinion, raced disappointingly. A veterinary inspection of ROMAN LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that SPEEDY SANDY had bled from both nostrils.
PURE FORCE, FANTASTICO and DYNAMIC VOYAGE were sent for sampling.
