Racing Incident Report

JOY TOGETHER proved difficult to load. Having regard to JOY TOGETHER’s poor record in respect of barrier manners, the Stewards ruled that the horse must satisfactorily undergo a series of consecutive official barrier trials prior to racing again.
KING DERBY, which was fractious in the stalls and was leaning against the outside of its stall as the start was effected, was slow to begin.
PACKING MOTOR began awkwardly.
MAROON PRINCE began only fairly.
Making the first turn approaching the 700 Metres, FAIR WIND was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MAROON PRINCE.
Also making the first turn approaching the 700 Metres, HEARTLAND, which was travelling keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CONFUCIUS ELITE.
At the 700 Metres, KING DERBY was steadied away from the heels of OUR MARCUS.
Near the 400 Metres, N Callan (MAROON PRINCE) dropped his left rein.
After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that HEARTLAND had bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of OUR MARCUS immediately following the horse revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils and to be severely distressed.
A veterinary inspection of NEW PET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
STAR OF WAI BO, ORIENTAL PROSPER and HURRY HURRY UP were sent for sampling.
