Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, GOLDEN SPIRIT collapsed. As GOLDEN SPIRIT was not able to take part, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice. Due to the time taken to remove GOLDEN SPIRIT from the track, the start of the race was delayed considerably. ORIENTAL began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of STAR OF NORTHERN. JUBILOSO was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, PAY-DAY was crowded for room between SHINING GEM and MADE IN HONGKONG, both of which shifted ground. Also shortly after the start, MR PRESIDENT and TELECOM SUPERBOSS bumped. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, SHINING GEM was steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside PAY-DAY. Throughout the race, TELECOM SUPERBOSS raced in a forward position, however, was wide and without cover, then making the Home Turn hung out and as a consequence carried MADE IN HONGKONG wider. Prior to straightening, SHINING GEM was steadied away from the heels of GOOD FRIENDS. Shortly after straightening, STAR OF NORTHERN was checked when disappointed for running between JUST VICTORY which was giving ground and TELECOM SUPERBOSS which after initially being carried in by MADE IN HONGKONG shifted in further away from that horse. After being checked, STAR OF NORTHERN was shifted in away from the heels of JUST VICTORY which continued to give ground and as a result caused SHINING GEM to lose its rightful running and be checked. The Stewards were of the opinion there were circumstances surrounding the check to both STAR OF NORTHERN and SHINING GEM, therefore no action was taken. In the Straight, JUBILOSO hung in. SHINING GEM was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SHINING GEM after the race did not show any significant findings. OSCAR STAR and ORIENTAL were sent for sampling.
