Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, STABLE MAIL bounded in the air and lost ground. Near the 1000 Metres, RICE FIELD clipped the heels of OSCAR STAR and blundered. Also near the 1000 Metres, ROYAL ARMY and FIRST AMONG EQUALS bumped, causing both horses to become badly unbalanced. Near the 700 Metres, DASHING THUNDER was steadied away from the heels of RICE FIELD. From near the 300 Metres until after the 200 Metres, DASHING WINNER was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, VERY FIT hung out. In the Straight, ROYAL ARMY hung in and proved difficult to shift to the outside of MIGHTY HUGO into clear running. For the major part of the race, FRUITY FRUITY raced wide and without cover. VERY FIT and MIGHTY HUGO were sent for sampling.
