Racing Incident Report
DESTINED FOR GLORY was slow to begin. In the early stages, when being steadied, LEADING CITY got its head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle. After the 1200 Metres, GLORIOUS DAYS was left racing without cover. The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in as they were of the prima facie view that an incident occurred approaching the 50 Metres which cast doubt on whether ADMIRATION should be declared the winner of the race. After viewing the videos, the Stewards found that whilst ADMIRATION (B Prebble) shifted out at this point of the race and bumped GLORIOUS DAYS, bearing in mind where the incident took place and the neck margin between the horses at the end of the race, they were not of the view that there were sufficient grounds to proceed with a protest/objection hearing. Whilst it did not have any bearing upon the Stewards’ decision not to hear a protest/objection in respect of this incident, D Whyte, the rider of GLORIOUS DAYS, did view the videos of the incident prior to the weighed-in being declared and chose not to enter a protest/objection on behalf of the connections of GLORIOUS DAYS. B Prebble was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts to prevent causing interference to other runners. A veterinary inspection of FAT CHOY OOHLALA after the race revealed that the horse had overreached the outside of the right front heel. ADMIRATION and GLORIOUS DAYS were sent for sampling.
