Racing Incident Report

GARLIC BOY began awkwardly and shortly after the start shifted out across the heels of OWNERS’ PRIDE after being bumped by AMBASSADORSHIP. Shortly after the start, DELISH became unbalanced after being bumped by PHAEDO which was taken out by BROTHERS IN ARMS. From a wide barrier, KING PENDRAGON was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Making the turn near the 850 Metres, GARLIC BOY was crowded for room inside DELISH which got its head on the side and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMBASSADORSHIP which itself was racing close to the heels of OWNERS’ PRIDE. Then near the 700 Metres, DELISH, which was travelling strongly, was steadied away from the heels of AMBASSADORSHIP which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from STEP HIGH when racing greenly. GARLIC BOY, which was positioned inside DELISH, was inconvenienced in this incident. At the 400 Metres, QUIET CONFIDENCE became unbalanced when bumped by DELISH (J McDonald) which, after shifting to the outside of the heels of STEP HIGH to obtain clear running, was taken out marginally by that horse which itself was taken out by GARLIC BOY. J McDonald was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he exercises care when shifting ground in future. Throughout the race, STEP HIGH and EXPECTATOR travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that WELL DONE had sustained a cut to the inside of the right front sesamoid. A veterinary inspection of QUIET CONFIDENCE after the race did not show any significant findings. OWNERS’ PRIDE and WELL DONE were sent for sampling.
<3/7/2012 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that KING PENDRAGON was lame in the left front leg with a swollen tendon on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, KING PENDRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
