Racing Incident Report

TOMODACHI was withdrawn on 29.3.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter AMBITIOUS GLORY (H W Lai). Before being allowed to race again, TOMODACHI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
On arrival at the barriers, it was noted that DELIGHT FORTUNE had shifted its left fore plate. DELIGHT FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. The start of the race was delayed due to DELIGHT FORTUNE having to be replated.
On arrival at the Start, it was noted that HIDDEN VALUE had a nasal discharge at the right nostril. HIDDEN VALUE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. A veterinary inspection of HIDDEN VALUE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea.
As the start was effected, RAZOR QUEST lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, RAZOR QUEST will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on RAZOR QUEST at the request of Trainer C W Chang. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea.
GOOD YIELD began awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in MR VANILLA being crowded for room inside HOUSE OF LUCK.
DELIGHT FORTUNE and HIDDEN VALUE made heavy contact at the start, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
FAST AND EASY began awkwardly and shortly after the start was taken across behind runners.
Shortly after the start, MR VANILLA was hampered when bumped by GOOD YIELD which shifted out when awkwardly placed outside the heels of KING OF SMARTS.
Near the 900 Metres, GOOD YIELD lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position inside HOUSE OF LUCK which shifted in slightly. After this, GOOD YIELD raced greenly and near the 500 Metres got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of RAZOR QUEST.
Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, HIDDEN VALUE got its head up when momentarily crowded for room between CALIFORNIA ROCK which shifted in and GENTILIS which got its head on the side and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of KIM GLORY.
Near the 600 Metres, HOUSE OF LUCK lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position inside FAST AND EASY.
In the early part of the Straight, HIDDEN VALUE hung in and near the 300 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of AMBITIOUS GLORY which was giving ground.
In the Straight, ADDOLE hung in under pressure.
Throughout the race, AMBITIOUS GLORY travelled wide and without cover and after the race was noted to be coughing. The Veterinary Officer said an endoscopic examination of AMBITIOUS GLORY showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, AMBITIOUS GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, M Chadwick (CALIFORNIA ROCK) reported that in the early part of the Straight his saddle shifted back slightly, placing him at a slight disadvantage.
GENTILIS and ADDOLE were sent for sampling.
