5 4 MONEY CATCHER (G171) When questioned regarding his riding, A Badel stated that with CALIFORNIA SPANGLE and CIRCUIT STELLAR expected to lead the event, he was asked to obtain a position with cover behind those two runners. He said in the early stages when caught wide and to the outside of CIRCUIT STELLAR, he endeavoured to ride forward to cross CIRCUIT STELLAR, but when that runner was travelling well and held its position to his inside, he was obliged to race three wide and without cover. He added that throughout the middle stages although he was aware the race was being run at a pace slower than standard, he was reluctant to push his mount forward as CIRCUIT STELLAR was travelling strongly and he felt this would have resulted in him having to make too much use of MONEY CATCHER to cross that runner. After considering his explanation, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Badel were reasonable in the circumstances.

7 5 BEAUTY JOY (E058) Jumped awkwardly. In the early stages got its head up when racing ungenerously.
