4 2 EXPLOSIVE WITNESS (B001) For some distance after the 500 Metres when racing keenly was steadied away from PLEASANT ENDEAVOR.
5 9 BEAUTY WAVES (H294) Dislodged Z Purton in the Parade Ring whilst being fractious. Was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Jumped awkwardly and made contact with MERCHANT PRINCE. When questioned regarding the performance of BEAUTY WAVES, Z Purton stated that his mount raced without cover throughout the event and, in his opinion, would be better suited by being stepped up in distance around a bend where the horse could travel at a more sustainable pace. He added that BEAUTY WAVES finished the race off reasonably well and he was satisfied with his mount’s performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 7 METRO WARRIOR (D387) Near the 300 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running to the outside of SUPER AXIOM (H T Mo) which shifted out. H T Mo was reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground whilst not clear.
7 1 PLEASANT ENDEAVOR (E114) Shortly after the start was bumped by SUPER AXIOM which shifted in when being corrected by its rider.
8 12 DIVINE SHINING (G373) Shortly after the start raced tight to the outside of SUPER AXIOM. Passing the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded by METRO WARRIOR (A Atzeni) which shifted to the inside of SUPER AXIOM to obtain clear running. A Atzeni was advised to exercise more care. Over the final 100 Metres was held up for clear running and as a consequence could not be ridden out to the finish of the event.
9 8 SPARKLING KNIGHT (C201) Bumped at the 300 Metres. After the race, A Hamelin stated that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SPARKLING KNIGHT, a winner in its two previous starts, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLING KNIGHT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
10 6 KIMBERLEY (H329) No report.
11 11 SUPER AXIOM (E105) A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
12 10 MERCHANT PRINCE (H268) Jumped awkwardly and bumped BEAUTY WAVES. Over the concluding stages, K De Melo dropped his whip.
13 5 KA YING SPIRIT (E217) When commencing to give ground near the 300 Metres shifted in and made contact with SPARKLING KNIGHT. Approaching the 200 Metres when continuing to give ground shifted out and was steadied away from INVINCIBLE SAGE when that runner shifted in slightly when improving to the inside of EXPLOSIVE WITNESS. After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that his mount gave ground in the Home Straight and he was concerned that there may be something amiss with the horse and therefore he did not ride it out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, KA YING SPIRIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
