4 4 ROMANTIC LAOS (G476) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
5 9 FAST SPEED (K351) Was unable to improve its position from the 600 Metres due to being held up for clear running until near the 300 Metres. Near the 200 Metres M Chadwick dropped his whip after being struck by the whip of L Ferraris, rider of SUPREME MASTERMIND.
6 7 LUCKY YEAR (K443) Was unable to improve its position from the 500 Metres when held up for clear running until approaching the 200 Metres. H Bentley explained that his instructions were to obtain a midfield position which he was able to do in the early stages, however, when the pace of the race slowed, particularly between the 1200 Metres and the 800 Metres which was run outside of standard time, his mount ended up further back in the field than he would have liked after ROMANTIC FANTASY improved to his outside.
7 13 STAR BROSE (J463) Got its head up in the early stages when racing keenly and near the 1400 Metres became unbalanced prior to being steadied away from the heels of LUCKY YEAR.
8 12 ON THE LASH (J182) No report.
9 6 ROMANTIC FANTASY (H168) Raced wide and without cover from the 1000 Metres. Z Purton could offer no explanation for the horse’s performance today. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 5 FLUORESCENCE (L124) A Badel reported that the instructions were to endeavour to take up a more forward position, however, despite the urgings of his mount in the early stages it showed insufficient pace to do so.
11 11 MASSIVE GLORY (K205) A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
12 2 DRAGON ON SNOW (L111) Jumped only fairly.
13 14 CIRCUIT CENTURY (K308) H T Mo stated that he was of the opinion his mount failed to run out the 1800 Metres of today’s event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CIRCUIT CENTURY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
