Racing Incident Report
LIBERAL'S KNIGHT was slow to begin and was then bumped by HIGHLILLI which shifted out away from ADAIKALI which shifted ground. After this, HIGHLILLI was slow to muster speed and got well back. Shortly after the start, SANZIRO, which was to be ridden quietly, was steadied when awkwardly placed between GOLDEN CARE and SHADOW KNIGHT. At the 600 Metres, HIGHLILLI was unable to maintain its position when racing between GENERAL KINGY and EGYPTIAN RA. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, ALWAYS WELCOME was steadied when crowded for room inside JOLLY GAINS which momentarily shifted ground. After the 600 Metres, LIBERAL'S KNIGHT was steadied away from the heels of FLASHING STAR. In the Straight, EGYPTIAN RA hung in and near the 250 Metres was steadied away from the heels of GENERAL KINGY. Apprentice H W Lai (CLASSA FOR EVER) explained the horse which has a light mouth has a history of jumping outwards at the start. He said tonight he allowed CLASSA FOR EVER rein to ensure he did not come out on its mouth, however, the horse again shifted outwards, he therefore immediately took hold of it after beginning well in an endeavour to straighten his mount. He said as a result of this CLASSA FOR EVER got its head up, causing him to become unbalanced, and as a consequence lost ground. GENERAL KINGY, SHADOW KNIGHT and EGYPTIAN RA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GENERAL KINGY, SHADOW KNIGHT and EGYPTIAN RA after the race did not show any significant findings. ADAIKALI and JOLLY GAINS were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 23 March 2006)
GENERAL KINGY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. GENERAL KINGY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, GENERAL KINGY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
