Racing Incident Report

On jumping, DAYLIGHT EXPRESS was checked when crowded for room between FEEL-SO-GOOD and KINGSTON MARBLE which on jumping shifted in abruptly. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, WATCHMAN was bumped by KAISER'S CHOIX which shifted in. After the 1000 Metres, when K-JACK was steadied, DAYLIGHT EXPRESS, which was following, got its head up when being steadied in consequence. Near the 800 Metres, VALUE CHOICE shifted in and got its head up when being steadied while awkwardly placed close to the heels of BATURO. On two occasions after the 250 Metres, KINGSTON MARBLE became unbalanced after being bumped by BATURO which shifted in. At the 200 Metres, CLOVIS was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of KAISER'S CHOIX which was giving ground. At the 100 Metres, BATURO was hampered and carried wider by KINGSTON MARBLE which shifted out. M Nunes (K-JACK), which was racing first up from a spell tonight, said the intention had been to ride the horse where it was comfortable as it was believed if he made use of K-JACK in the early stages, the horse would fail to finish the race off. He said K-JACK began awkwardly, bumped with VALUE CHOICE and as a consequence lost ground. He said he then allowed K-JACK to travel forward where it was comfortable, however, making the turn at the 1000 Metres he was awkwardly placed between FEEL-SO-GOOD and VALUE CHOICE which shifted in slightly. He said because of this K-JACK lost ground. He said in the Straight K-JACK finished the race off fairly. F Coetzee (KAISER'S CHOIX) said at the horse's most recent start over the same course and distance from a wide barrier, it was taken back in the early stages as it was believed it did not have sufficient speed to cross runners on its inside. He said on that occasion KAISER'S CHOIX performed poorly. He said tonight when KAISER'S CHOIX again drew a wide gate, in view of its last start performance, it was decided to make use of the horse in the early stages in the hope of being able to obtain a forward position with cover. He said whilst KAISER'S CHOIX did show some early speed, it again was not able to cross runners on its inside and as a consequence travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. He said because of this KAISER'S CHOIX again performed disappointedly. SUPER CHARGE and FEEL-SO-GOOD were sent for sampling.
