Racing Incident Report

SEA PRINCE was slow into stride. ROYAL DOMAIN began awkwardly and was then taken back. On jumping, MATSUKAZE and SABINA bumped. Shortly after this, WONDERFUL GAINS and MATSUKAZE lost their positions when crowded for room between SABINA and GREAT SUPREME which after knuckling at the start shifted in. Shortly after the start, SICHUAN HERO was checked when crowded for room between WIN-A-LOT which was carried in slightly by LUCKY DRAGON and CONQUEROR which while being ridden along shifted out after being brushed by SEA PRINCE. No action was taken. Making the Home Turn, LUFENG FORTUNE, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of SEVENS HEAVEN which was carried wider by CONQUEROR (S K Sit) which shifted out when not properly clear. S K Sit was told to exercise greater care. WIN-A-LOT, which was following, was steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of LUFENG FORTUNE. For a considerable distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, SICHUAN HERO, which was closing the race off, was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of MATSUKAZE which was giving ground. For some distance after this, SICHUAN HERO continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 100 Metres, SEA PRINCE and SEVENS HEAVEN bumped. After the 100 Metres, SABINA was steadied when crowded for room outside ROYAL DOMAIN which shifted out. Throughout the race, GREAT SUPREME travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of MATSUKAZE, H W Lai said his mount was crowded for room at the start. He said after this MATSUKAZE travelled keenly in the early stages and did not relax in the run. He said after the 800 Metres MATSUKAZE travelled more kindly, however, because of the manner in which the horse raced in the early stages of the race, it did not quicken after straightening and commenced to give ground at the 300 Metres. He said as MATSUKAZE was well beaten at the 200 Metres, he did not persevere in riding his mount out to the end of the race. WONDERFUL GAINS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. LUFENG FORTUNE and MATSUKAZE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, LUFENG FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of WONDERFUL GAINS and MATSUKAZE after the race did not show any significant findings. SEA PRINCE and SEVENS HEAVEN were sent for sampling.
