Racing Incident Report
STRONG PROMISE was checked when crowded for room on jumping between HOME MADE and HERO TIME which was taken in by HAPPY GOOD GUYS.
RED ZOFFANY and HERCULES were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Also from a wide barrier, DESTINE JEWELLERY was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages.
After being ridden along to obtain a forward position, CONFUCIUS DAY (Apprentice K H Chan) travelled very wide and without cover throughout the race and was eased down in the Straight. Apprentice Chan stated that CONFUCIUS DAY lost its action in the middle stages and did not feel comfortable. He said for this reason he eased it down and dismounted from the horse prior to the winning post. A veterinary inspection of CONFUCIUS DAY immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CONFUCIUS DAY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Passing the 900 Metres, STRONG PROMISE and STAY CHILL raced tight inside JAZZ STEED which shifted in before being shifted back out to relieve the tightening.
Approaching the 800 Metres, HERO TIME travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover behind KINDA COOL.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, HOME MADE lost ground after shifting out marginally towards the heels of HERO TIME which lay in when awkwardly placed behind KINDA COOL.
Also making the turn after the 600 Metres, STRONG PROMISE was crowded for room inside STAY CHILL which was taken in by JAZZ STEED (C Schofield) which got its head on the side and lay in away from CONFUCIUS DAY. Whilst the Stewards accepted that JAZZ STEED was inclined to lay in in this incident, nonetheless C Schofield was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing crowding to other runners.
Rounding the Home Turn, HERCULES raced tight outside DESTINE JEWELLERY and in the Straight lay in under pressure.
Near the 50 Metres, JAZZ STEED was straightened by its rider after commencing to shift out under pressure.
Throughout the race, DEMONS ROCK travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on STRONG PROMISE at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
A veterinary inspection of HERO TIME immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, HERO TIME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
KINDA COOL and JAZZ STEED were sent for sampling.
