Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
4 PACKING POWER (J284) Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping. Sent for sampling post-race.
10 CIRCUIT SEVEN (D474) Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Sent for sampling post-race.
8 SPEEDY SMARTIE (H108) Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
1 ONE FOR ALL (G012) No report.
7 DRACO (J115) Near the 750 Metres was steadied to avoid DAN ATTACK when it commenced to race keenly.
11 DAN ATTACK (H317) Bumped at the start.
12 MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
3 DOUBLE BINGO (J309) Over the final 50 Metres could not be ridden out when it improved close to ONE FOR ALL. After the race, Trainer Y S Tsui confirmed that his instructions from the outside barrier were to ride the horse conservatively in the early stages.
5 SIGHT HERO (D487) After the 700 Metres was steadied when placed in restricted room between GIMME FIVE and DRACO which shifted out slightly when racing keenly. When questioned regarding his riding rounding the Home Turn and as to whether there was an opportunity to improve to the outside of GIMME FIVE, L Hewitson stated that his instructions were to settle his mount where comfortable and anticipated racing in a midfield position. He said leaving the 500 Metres when GIMME FIVE did not improve into the event, he became awkwardly placed close to the heels of that runner and whilst his intention was to shift to that runner’s outside, he was unable to do so due to his mount being placed too close to the heels of GIMME FIVE and also because ACE POWER was positioned directly to his outside. He added near the 400 Metres when he observed DRACO to improve forward, he elected to shift in to follow that runner into the event. L Hewitson further stated that after riding his mount along in the early part of the Home Straight, SIGHT HERO then had difficulty obtaining clear running between SPEEDY SMARTIE and DRACO near the 150 Metres and could not be fully tested until after the 100 Metres where his mount finished off in a one-paced manner. After considering his explanations, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Hewitson were reasonable in the circumstances. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
9 GIMME FIVE (J099) No report.
6 DIVINE SHINING (G373) Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground. After the race, M L Yeung reported that he was concerned there may be something amiss with his mount due to the manner in which it gave ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, DIVINE SHINING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
2 ACE POWER (J181) Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position. Near the 650 Metres was bumped by SIGHT HERO. For some distance near the 150 Metres the whip of A Atzeni became entangled in his rein as he changed his whip from his left to his right hand. After the race, A Atzeni stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide, however, gave ground when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
