Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
4 BEAUTY LIGHT (J474) Sent for sampling post-race.
6 TELECOM DRAGON (H322) Making the first turn near the 1000 Metres was checked when crowded between KOKUSHI MUSOU which was racing tight to the inside of BOWSER and BEAUTY LIGHT which was taken out by SOLAR RIVER when that runner hung out making the first turn. After the 300 Metres was directed to the outside of KOKUSHI MUSOU to obtain clear running. J McDonald pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference over the concluding stages (see SPEEDY SMARTIE). Sent for sampling post-race.
2 THRIVING BROTHERS (J396) Raced wide and without cover until the 600 Metres. Hung in in the Home Straight and proved difficult to ride out. A Pouchin pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 150 Metres (see BOWSER).
9 SPEEDY SMARTIE (H108) From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Prior to declaring weighed-in, Jockey K Teetan and Trainer T P Yung viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were sufficient grounds for a protest/objection following SPEEDY SMARTIE being checked over the concluding stages. When they declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds to do so, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. J McDonald (TELECOM DRAGON) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that over the concluding stages he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SPEEDY SMARTIE, resulting in SPEEDY SMARTIE being checked. Having regard to the special circumstances of this matter, he was fined the sum of $60,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
3 KOKUSHI MUSOU (G006) A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
1 BOWSER (H460) A Pouchin (THRIVING BROTHERS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he made insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in, resulting in BOWSER losing its running and having to be checked. After assessing the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade 2 and having regard to his excellent race riding record, the Stewards determined the appropriate penalty to be a reprimand. After the event, B Avdulla reported that his intention was to hold a forward position with cover behind the leaders. He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to allow BOWSER to stride forward and race outside the lead to avoid covering additional ground.
12 SMART LEADER (B456) Near the 1000 Metres shifted out when being checked to avoid TELECOM DRAGON. Approaching the 100 Metres was checked when disappointed for clear running between SPEEDY SMARTIE and BOWSER and as a result was unable to be ridden out fully until passing the 50 Metres.
8 SOLAR RIVER (J308) No report.
7 ALL EYES ON ME (J453) Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between SMART LEADER which shifted out slightly and BOWSER (B Avdulla) which shifted in slightly. B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.
10 SPICY SO SMART (G203) Jumped only fairly and then shortly after was steadied when crowded between JOYOUS LILY and ISLAND GOLDEN which shifted in and away from THRIVING BROTHERS. Crowded leaving the 1000 Metres. After the 300 Metres was taken wider by TELECOM DRAGON which shifted out to improve. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <12/12/2024 Additional Veterinary Report>SPICY SO SMART, which performed disappointingly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. SPICY SO SMART was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer W K Mo this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SPICY SO SMART will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
11 ISLAND GOLDEN (H018) Shortly after the start was crowded by THRIVING BROTHERS and then shifted in and away from that runner, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Leaving the 1000 Metres was steadied when crowded between THRIVING BROTHERS which shifted in slightly and SPICY SO SMART which was taken out by SMART LEADER when that runner made the turn awkwardly after being checked. Was left racing wide and without cover from the 600 Metres.
5 JOYOUS LILY (J525) Jumped awkwardly, got its head up and then was crowded shortly after the start.
WV BULB EMPEROR (J241) Withdrawn on 10.12.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPEEDY SMARTIE. Before being allowed to race again, BULB EMPEROR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
