Racing Incident Report

DIEGO was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was taken across behind runners. Passing the 1200 Metres, FLEET COMMAND commenced to over-race and proved very difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPREME WIN. In doing so, FLEET COMMAND shifted out away from the heels of SUPREME WIN and after this travelled wide in a forward position. Passing the 1100 Metres, HAPPY PRESTIGE was checked away from the heels of GRAND DANCER and in doing so shifted out and made contact with DESTINED FOR GLORY on a number of occasions. Passing the 600 Metres, EL MORRO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MR MARFACH. Over the concluding stages, EL MORRO was steadied when racing tight inside ADMIRATION (D Beadman) which shifted in under pressure. Because of this EL MORRO was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. D Beadman was reprimanded and advised that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside in future. Throughout the race, ST FEVRE travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, Apprentice C Y Ho (EL MORRO) stated that as MR MARFACH was maintaining its position to the inside of ADMIRATION in the early part of the Straight, he considered shifting out behind YOU GOTTA PAY in an attempt to obtain clear running. He said that as he was shifting out towards YOU GOTTA PAY, he observed that MR MARFACH was commencing to give ground and for this reason he immediately directed EL MORRO back inwards to obtain clear running to the inside of ADMIRATION. A veterinary inspection of YOU GOTTA PAY after the race revealed that the horse had sustained a cut to the right front fetlock and was lame in the right front leg and also an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in its trachea. Before being allowed to race again, YOU GOTTA PAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY PRESTIGE after the race did not show any significant findings. ADMIRATION and ST FEVRE were sent for sampling.
