Racing Incident Report

After being loaded into the barriers, the crossed nose band fitted to DIAMOND KNIGHT came loose. DIAMOND KNIGHT was removed from the barriers so that the crossed nose band could be refitted. After being loaded, DANE PATROL became fractious, kicked at the back gates and got its left hind leg over the back gates. DANE PATROL was removed from the barriers and inspected by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had sustained abrasions to its left hind leg and as such was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DANE PATROL. Before being allowed to race again, DANE PATROL will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MR SPEEDY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, DIAMOND KNIGHT got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to shift across behind runners. Near the 100 Metres, FATBOY SUGAR was shifted to the inside of XI YING MEN. Passing the 100 Metres, MAELSTROM raced tight outside KING OF THE DAY. A veterinary inspection of DIAMOND KNIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIA CHOICE and FATBOY SUGAR were sent for sampling.
